Refund policy
Refund, Return & Cancellation Policy
Updated 2 September 2026
This policy applies to purchases from Office Stock (Pty) Ltd and must be read with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA). Nothing here removes any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived.
Seven-day return and cancellation period
A customer may request cancellation of an unfulfilled standard-product order until the item is fulfilled. After delivery, a standard product may be returned by notifying us within seven days after receipt, subject to the conditions below. Where ECTA section 44 applies, a consumer may cancel a qualifying electronic transaction for goods within seven days after receiving them without reason or penalty and is responsible only for the direct cost of returning the goods.
Condition and packaging
For a change-of-mind return, the product must be unused, complete, undamaged and returned in its original packaging with all parts, manuals and accessories. Packaging must protect the goods in transit. Packaging requirements will not be used to defeat a valid statutory claim for defective, unsafe, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods.
Return to base and transport costs
Qualifying change-of-mind returns are return-to-base and the customer is responsible for arranging and paying the direct return transport cost. Do not send goods before receiving a return authorisation and the confirmed base address. Office Stock bears the reasonable return or collection cost where the CPA or another applicable law requires it, including qualifying defective, unsafe or incorrectly supplied goods.
Inspection and manufacturer assessment
Returned goods will be inspected and, where appropriate, referred to the manufacturer or distributor for technical assessment. This assessment helps verify the condition and remedy but will not unreasonably delay or limit a consumer’s choice of remedy where the CPA provides one.
Defective, unsafe or poor-quality goods
Where the CPA implied warranty applies, goods must be reasonably suitable, of good quality, in working order, free of defects and durable for a reasonable period. If qualifying goods fail to meet those standards within six months after delivery, the consumer may return them at our risk and expense and choose repair, replacement or refund as section 56 provides. Further statutory remedies may apply if a repaired defect recurs within the period stated by the CPA.
Custom-made and specially sourced goods
No change-of-mind refund or cancellation is available for products made to the customer’s specifications, personalised finishes, specially sourced or imported products, or products altered or assembled specifically for the customer, except where Office Stock agrees otherwise in writing. This exclusion does not limit any remedy for goods that are defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or otherwise protected by a non-excludable statutory right.
Incorrect or damaged deliveries
If we deliver the wrong item, a materially different item, an unordered quantity, or goods damaged before delivery, contact us promptly. Where required by law, we will arrange collection at our cost and provide the appropriate remedy.
How to request a return
- Email sales@officestock.co.za within the applicable period, stating the order number, item, reason and photographs where relevant.
- Wait for written return authorisation and the confirmed return-to-base address.
- Package the product safely in its original packaging with all supplied parts, manuals and accessories.
- Arrange and pay for transport for a change-of-mind return. We will arrange or reimburse reasonable return transport where law requires Office Stock to bear it.
- We will inspect the goods and, where relevant, obtain the manufacturer’s assessment before confirming the lawful remedy.
Report visible transit damage as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 24 hours, to preserve courier evidence. A later report is not automatically rejected where the law provides a remedy.
Refund timing
Once a return qualifies for a refund, it will be made to the original payment method unless another lawful method is agreed. For ordinary approved return-to-base refunds, we will process the refund within 30 days after the goods are received at the confirmed base. Where ECTA or another law requires an earlier deadline, the statutory deadline applies; an ECTA cooling-off refund will be completed no later than 30 days after cancellation.
